Hun, you’re at the beginning of puberty. Many kids your age “fill out” before growing. It’s part of nature. Despite what you want to hear, you shouldn’t be focusing on actually losing weight right now. Instead, focus on healthy, lifelong habits. Eat a healthy, balanced diet with lean protein (such as poultry and fish), 3 servings of low fat dairy or soy products (low fat milk, cottage cheese, soy milk, etc.), healthy carbs such as whole – wheat bread, whole – wheat pasta, and brown rice, plenty of fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water. Avoid soda and coffee, and drink no more than 4 – 6 oz. of all natural (no sugar added) juice per day. Make sure you are getting at least an hour of exercise a day – jog, ride a bike, join a yoga or other exercise class, and/or sign up for a sports team. By making those habits, you will firm up in a healthy and age – appropriate way.
Good for you for wanting to be healthy and being against crash diets, pills, and other fads that are unhealthy and not effective. Based on that, you have a better head on your shoulders than many of the adults who come on here! Good luck!
*EDIT* Brothers tend to find whatever will hurt you to use as ammunition. Even if you were all skin and bones, he’d probably still call you fat just to get you mad. Don’t let him get to you! I know it’s hard, especially at your age. But just know that he’s not saying it because you’re fat, he’s saying it because he knows it hurts you. Fight back by ignoring him and staying healthy. Stay positive!
Hey! You are never to young to start exercising but I wouldnt worry about your diet just yet.. Trust me! 13 is a perfect age to start getting into a routine. You are probably too young to go to the gym ( I started at 15 ) but you can still work out. Two very good pieces of advice: Drink lots of water! Not only will it help with acne but it really is good for your body and your metabolism. Try going for walks or hikes get outside with some good songs on your ipod! I would just try running even if you can only run for 1 minute thats fine.. As long as you do it at least 3 times a week you will find that you will get into great shape. Yoga is great aswell, and you can find a free video on google video if you look it up. You are still young so try not to stress too much about junk food but there is always a point of going too far. Just eat some fruit and whole wheat bread. If you are going to drink pop just drink regular and not diet–that stuff is worse for you in the long run! The habits you start to make now make it easier for you in the long run in maintaining a healthy body so good luck.. !
Girl look your not super skinny by any means …
Just cut down on the crap and take up a sport… I f your not really into sports try swimming or something
okay…. i was an overweight teenager, i carried my weight well, i was pretty “even all over”… something that REALLY helped me was PORTION CONTROL, CUTTING OUT FATTY/HIGH CALORIE FOODS, EXERCISE
I felt my best when I would exercise, and I tell this to ANYONE that I meet, I was 17 weighing in at 180lbs and only 5′4″… a started doing Richard Simmons “Dance your pants off”, “Sweatin’ to the oldies” and “tonin’ uptown and downtown”… these videos, as rediculous as they can be are meant for you to GET UP, START MOVIN’ and START SWEATING. I will never forget the day that I started the “Dance your pants off” video, I couldn’t even get through the warm-up.. it’s worth a shot, hell, it worked for me, and now I am a very healthy weight! Give it a try, what do you have to lose? (Maybe just a little weight)
GOOD LUCK!
PS: If you don’t want to buy videos, check your local library, they usually have a bunch of exercise videos/DVDs that you can get without the expense of $20 a video! Good luck, honey!
try eating those special k cereals. i tried for two weeks and i did notice that i got thinner. make sure to follow the directions on the box. it WILL give you cravings to want to eat more, or other foods. DON’T!!!! instead, eat fruit…^.^ itll help cut the cravings.
for easy exercises, you can go walk around ur neighborhood or on a treadmill [if you have one] for 30-60 mins. but for starters, you can walk for about 20 mins. then, later one, you can add a minute or two to ur workout. just keep pushing urself to do more, but not too much till you feel light-heated and sick. thats not good!!!!

do some simple thing , you don’t need to diet at all.
reduce high calorie + fatty foods
increase healthy food + vegetables + fruits in your diet.
do various games for good exercise
you are young and you can adapt to change easily
