Hurray,
This was part of chastisement for us kids growing up in India when we did something wrong and our parents punished us. Quick innocuous and now it seems, even good for the brain!
the tamilians figured it out centuries ago… it’s the good old ” thoppukaaranam” !!! Parents insist that their kids do it in the morning….incredible…. that’s the beauty.. very very deep and life -quality enhancing techniques were woven into simple everyday practices….
Oh my god! we used to do this during vinaayaka chaturthi but we never knew what it was for. It was thought to be superstition. Again some westerner has to open our eye that what we had been doing for ages wasn’t exactly superstition…
Hi!
21 times you should do facing east..
Preferably you breathe through nose since u r suppose to keep ur tongue connected to the roof of ur mouth throughout the excercise. Also keep ur feet apart at shoulder level. The speed should be comfortable but not very fast.
One more precaution for women do not do this exercise 2 days befor and after and during the menstrual cycles.
What is the minimum amount of time you need to do it per day? Is it ok to breathe through the mouth instead of the nose while inhaling/exhaling? And while doing the squats, does it matter how quickly or slowly you do it? Or does it matter how far apart your feet are? Thanks to anyone who may be able to answer these questions!
Yes!
But this exercise when done properly it does help. The teachings are ancient its just that over many years there has been distortion and what we see today as a punishment was indeed an exercise to charge the brain cells.
