Absolutely! Yoga not only strengthens and tones the body, but also elongates it. This gives you a leaner AND taller figure. I started off with Kathy Smith and Denise Austin’s yoga DVDs, as I found them to be very descriptive and moderately-paced for beginners.
As you become more comfortable with the practice, you can even try to delve into Cardio Yoga with instructors like Tom Morley and Meaghan Townsend (both available at). These are even more effective for weight loss.
