Yogalates is a waste of time. I got seriously injured in a Yogalates class (pulled groin). I had problems walking for weeks. Also, you don’t lose much weight in a yogalates class. Try more traditional cardio and strength tgraining for the best results. Don’t make my mistake of doing yogalates.
Personally, I’m a yoga enthusiast because I teach it! Haha, so I may be partial, but I dislike most things that combine yoga and pilates because you’re only getting minimal benefits from two very different but uniquely spectacular programs.
I would suggest taking a yoga class first, because you’ll learn your postures and how to do things properly which a DVD will be hard pressed to show you, but if you aren’t interested in that then DVDs can be a good outlet. Pilates on the other hand is somewhat less difficult to learn technique-wise and most DVDs do a decent job of telling you what to tighten and when.

Rodney Yee has a few good Yoga ones, they’re usually low impact though.
There’s Yoga For Weight Loss Series (http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Weight-Loss/dp/B000E1OIC6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/105-0153134-9982855?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1181495387&sr=8-2)
I’m bad at links, sorry!
And then:
Pick Your Level Pilates:
I only recommend that for absolute beginners though.
Windsor Pilates
A great workout!
Once you get into these things, you’ll notice what does and does not work for you and it’ll be much easier picking a DVD!
Good luck!
